Week of dementia in the Heidekreis: inform and help together
From 16 to September 22nd, the "Week of Dementia" takes place again in the Heidekreis. This event represents an important initiative that not only educates about dementia, but also wants to raise awareness of the topic. The action week is organized by the Dementia Network of the Heidekreis, which has set itself the goal of informing the population and promoting understanding of people with dementia and their relatives.
The series of events comprises a variety of events that are accessible to the public. Citizens have the opportunity to find out about the disease in lectures and discussions. In addition, activities such as singing and moving are offered that promote both the physical and emotional participation. The exchange through special dementia training and the presentation of films that offer different perspectives on the subject of dementia are also part of the program.
a network for clarification
The dementia network in the Heidekreis is an association of various actors, including nursing advisors from the AOK, compass private nursing advice, members of the district senior advisory board and the social psychiatric service as well as representatives of the Alzheimer Society Lower Saxony and the Caritas Forum Dementia. This neutral working group has been founded to expand support for those affected and to systematically strengthen public awareness of the topic of dementia.
The initiative is based on the national dementia strategy, which aims to put the challenges for people with dementia and their relatives into the focus of society. The organization of this week makes it clear that dementia is not only an individual illness, but also requires a dialogue for society as a whole in order to promote offers of help and understanding.
Invitation to participate
All interested citizens are cordially invited to take part in the events. The network encourages to exchange ideas and actively participate in sensitization. It is important that each individual contributes to increasing awareness of dementia and creating a supportive atmosphere for those affected. After all, dementia is not just a diagnosis, but a challenge that often affects the entire environment of a person.
