Addendum on violence and loss: Process for abusing partners in Virton

On July 4, a court in Virton raised allegations against a man and expressed a judgment with conversion of the punishment. He was released and was able to leave the institution. But the joy of his freedom did not last long.

Already on July 12, the police were called to his place of residence. This time the situation became serious when the officials found a woman at 10:28 p.m. who was bleeding in an armchair and had visible injuries on the face. According to reports, the man, strongly alcoholic and aggressively, was not ready to support the doctor present in the treatment.

tragic end

In August the situation suffered an even more tragic turn when the partner of the man was found dead-victim of an overdose. However, there was no evidence that this death was directly connected to the previous incidents.

recently the man had to appear again in court, accused of repeated violence against his partner. The public prosecutor, led by Stéphanie Brand, commented on the case and expressed sharp criticism of the earlier decision on the punishment: "I had applied for a strict prison sentence.

The lawyer of the accused, Me Jules Carpentier, threw another light on the situation and advocated a mitigating decision. He argued that both partners were responsible in their relationship and the focus should be on the urgent need to help their child common, who now grows up without his mother. He therefore applied for a temporary suspension of the punishment or the possibility of serving the punishment with an electronic anklewell.

The judgment in this difficult matter is expected to be announced on September 25th, and it remains to be seen which consequences the court will go after many warning signs have already been overlooked. The situation raises questions about the dangers of domestic violence and the challenges with which affected families are faced.
