A shocking incident in a pedestrian zone from Aalen once again focuses on ruthlessness among cyclists. On Saturday evening there was an unpleasant incident when a cyclist made the chaos perfect on a restaurant terrace. Sabina Küchler and her partner Holger Flaig enjoyed a quiet evening in the Pizzahaus Le Palme when everything suddenly changed.

at the time, around 7 p.m., a cyclist came to the two in a narrow side street from behind. Although the space was already cramped by the outdoor catering and lay under the table of the couple, Gizmo, the cyclist tried to squeeze through. At an unfortunate moment, he lost his balance and, including a bike, crashed into the couple's table. Glasses flew through the air and a shard finally injured Küchler at hand.

The situation continued to escalate when a mother who was sitting two tables criticized Küchler for the fact that she screams too loudly and the crying child disturbed. The 58-year-old found this lack of empathy to be particularly hurtful. She was convinced that the child cried less because of her reaction, but rather because of the chaos and noise of the cyclist. While Küchler fought with a bleeding hand, the behavior of the cyclist and the reaction of the other guests seemed not to disturb anyone. It could have resulted in breaking a table or injuries to other guests. The cyclist meanwhile made himself out of dust.

The employees of the pizza house reacted quickly and ensured that the shards were removed and Küchler's dog did not come into contact with the dangerous splinters. Despite her shock, Küchler is annoyed that she did not immediately alert the police to counteract this ruthless behavior. Only later in the evening she informed the authorities to ensure that the incident becomes a record.

The rules of the pedestrian zone and the responsibility of the cyclists

This incident throws a light on the general problem of cyclists in the pedestrian zones. In Aalen, driving by bike in such areas is generally prohibited. In the event of violations, fines between 25 and 40 euros threaten. According to Stephan Dürr, the city's press spokesman, it is important to call the police in such situations. This is the only way to get order, and the community enforcement service can intervene.

The question remains how clearly the minimum level of consideration is in favor of other road users. Küchler finds it impossible that some cyclists in the city are traveling in such an unsecured way without adhering to the applicable rules. In their view, there must be more violations of such violations in order to avoid future incidents.
