Königstein (KW) - After a long waiting time of four years, the Epiphany meeting of the young people experienced a comeback that, despite some challenges, made a lasting impression. The event, which was originally planned with a broad participation from the Upper Palatinate and other regions, was unfortunately faced with setbacks, since some participants had to cancel due to scheduled flicts. Nevertheless, the exchange between the young people from Saxony and Königstein was a great success.

After a long journey, the group from Saxony arrived on Friday afternoon together with a supervisor in Königstein. They were greeted friendly by members of the Freundeskreis of the Cities of Königstein and from young people from the Taunus. To get to know each other, we went to the city, where the first dinner was taken in the Kebap Haus. The young people also visited the local notch in Schneidhain, where they ended the evening while celebrating in the Kerbedisco. On the way back to the youth hostel in Bad Homburg, a tour of the city was organized at the request of the young people, which offered them an impressive view of the houses and cars.

Saturday started with an exciting trip to Frankfurt. Here the youngsters had the opportunity to explore the city with a "hop-on-hop-off" section of the Bus. After a stopover at the Paulskirche, they continued their tour through the city center, where they visited places like the Römerberg and the Iron Steg. The exploration led them to the impressive cathedral, where they took a well -deserved break in the "Paulaner am Dom". After strengthening, the city tour continued through Sachsenhausen and the modern Europa City, which gave the participants numerous new impressions.

A special visit to the fire brigade

Back in Königstein, the next climax was waiting for the group: a visit to the volunteer fire brigade. Here, two guests from Königstein also joined the group in the Upper Palatinate, which made the meeting a real Epiphany meeting. Volker Stroh, a board member of the fire brigade, explained the various vehicles to the young people. The 30 meter high ladder, who were allowed to use some of the brave to take a look over the city and the Taunus, was particularly impressive. An exciting connection to the past was the presentation of pictures from 1990, which the fire brigade showed during a visit to Saxony. Many young people recognized their grandfathers or fathers in the old photos and enjoyed this nostalgic moment.

The group again led the group to the notch in Schneidhain, where you could dinner and drive a car scooter. After an eventful day, the evening ended with a tour of Königstein, which strengthened the friendly gang between the youngsters and the hosts.

The Sunday morning started with a tasty breakfast and a warm farewell, while the Saxon young people started their journey home with many new impressions and memories. Despite the originally difficult circumstances, the Epiphany meeting in 2024 was an important event that will remain in a positive memory for a long time.
