Network expansion in Kümmersbruck: worries about nature and local infrastructure

The current debate about the power supply in the municipality of Kümmersbruck has gained in explosive through the plans of Tennet AG to upgrade 220 KV lines. This decision has far -reaching effects on the local community and the natural environment.

Information deficit of the municipality

The "Life instead of asphalt" interests only experienced by detours from the upcoming work. The press spokesman for Tennet, Andreas Schieder, was invited to an on -site appointment to bring the background of the upgrade closer to a public discussion. He was accompanied by various representatives of local organizations, while employees of the municipal administration were unfortunately not represented. This suggests that the residents and the political representatives may not be sufficiently informed about planned infrastructure projects.

Follow for the environment

A central theme of the meeting was the planned laying of the new 380 kV line, which is to be built at least 70 meters from the existing line for safety reasons. Veronika Frenzel commented that this measure was counterproductive for the western bypass of Kümmersbruck, which was specially developed to minimize interventions in the natural landscape. Markus Mahal also warned of further negative effects on the natural balance, since massive interventions have to take place for the expansion. A worrying aspect that those present noted was the planning of a new substation in the "Search room Amberg", the area of which is calculated with at least 20 hectares.

The challenge of the energy distribution

The discussion not only illuminates the local problems, but also the national challenges. Michael Ströhl brought up that not only the transmission network, but also the local distribution networks, are often a bottleneck. This ensures that electricity customers ultimately have to carry the increased network charges.

Outlook for the next steps

Andreas Schieder stated that the "Network Development Plan Strom 2037/45" should be treated in the Bundestag in the near future and that the planning approval process could start at the latest in 2025. The participants present agreed that there is a great need for information and that IG plans to continue to actively pursue the topic. This situation illustrates the need for a transparent dialogue between the network operators, the municipalities and those affected to understand and minimize the social and ecological effects of such infrastructure projects.
