Anti -war day in Sulzbach: commemoration and reminder against right -wing violence
Every year on September 1, the unions take the anti -war day as an opportunity to remind the many victims of National Socialism and to point out the current conflicts in the world. This also happened in Amberg, where the specialist secretary of IG Metall, Katrin Wieser, explained the importance of this memorial event when laying a wreath at the cenotaph for the victims of war and tyranny on the Sulzbacher Friedhofsberg.
When we talk about the anti -war day, we not only talk about a historical memory, but also about current challenges. According to Wieser, right ideas are increasingly spreading among the population, which has alarming consequences. It is a threatening development that manifests itself in an increase in attacks on people with other origins or other beliefs. The attacks on trade unionists are also worrying. Wieser reminded of an incident from 2020 when the identity movement appeared on the roof of the trade union house in Stuttgart. In addition, DGB colleagues were attacked by rights in Dresden in Dresden in Dresden in August 2024, which shows that such attacks are unfortunately not isolated cases. The fact that fascists have won an election in Germany for the first time since 1933 increases the urgency of this memorial event.
The reality of the war
wars represent one of the cruelest experiences of humanity. Vahan Armenakian, the chairman of the youth and training representation at the Kennametal company in Vohenstrauß, spoke about the current conflicts that are plagued by the world, including those in Syria, Yemen and Ukraine. These events illustrate how fragile peace is. "The pictures of suffering people, destroyed cities and desperate families must not leave us indifferent," said Armenakian and called not to ignore people's suffering in the crisis areas.
The unions are vehemently committed to a world in which conflicts are not solved by violence, but with dialogue and understanding. In her opinion, it is necessary to tackle the real causes of war and violence. Wiser expressed the clear call to politics to deal more intensively with the topics of poverty, injustice and discrimination in order to effectively counter these global challenges.
An impressive part of the commemoration was the play of the song "Moore soldiers", which was written by prisoners of the Börgermoor concentration camp in 1933. This song testifies to the resistance to fascist violence and symbolizes a message of unbroken belief in peace and freedom. It has spread internationally after the Second World War and is still recognized as a strong sign of resistance.
With such lively memories of the horrors of the past and an open ear for the challenges of the present, the anti -war day becomes an indispensable memorial. He beats a bridge between memory and the future and encourages society to continue to work for a peaceful world.
