Almost 1 million euros for the renovation of the Augsburg ringlok shocation
The Augsburg rail park, an important cultural heritage in the region, receives considerable financial support from the federal government for the comprehensive renovation of its historical ring locomotive shed. This gratifying news has aroused the interest of numerous citizens, since it not only promises to maintain a historic place, but also support the further development of a popular excursion destination in Augsburg.
Claudia Roth, the Bundestag member of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, welcomed the positive decision of the Bundestag budget committee in an official declaration, which provides a funding of 993,000 euros for this project. Their commitment and support of the committee have made a significant contribution to the fact that this large amount could be approved. Roth said: "The funding amount is one of the highest that is made available nationwide in this funding program for a monument protection project."
historical importance of the rail park
The railway park is located in the Hochfeld district and is considered a symbol for the industrial development of Augsburg. Founded between 1903 and 1906 and in the 1920s, the site was one of the largest of its kind in Bavaria. In the 1960s it was at the peak of his use with over 190 locomotives and more than 1100 employees.
Since 2005, part of the site has been used sustainably by the Augsburg GGmbH rail park. An extensive collection of historical locomotives from all over Europe is presented in the northern ring locomotive shed, which is a permanent cultural -historical exhibition of international rank under the title "Time Trout". With the renovation of the ring locomotive shed, not only the structural substance is preserved, but also the functionality and accessibility of the area for visitors is ensured. Last year, a pleasing visitor volume of around 12,000 guests was recorded.
The measures involved in the renovation process are diverse: in addition to the renovation of the ring locomotive shed, the project also includes the repair of the leverstar of the historical hub and the overhead line spider. This contributes to the fact that visits can take place safely and safely in the future.
scope of funding and its effects
The Federal Government Protection Program has so far supported over 3,000 significant cultural monuments in Germany with investments of around 500 million euros since 2009. This underlines the importance of such initiatives for the preservation of the cultural history of our country. Roth emphasized that this was a central part of the task of preserving the historical witnesses of industrial culture for future generations.
The funding, from which medium-sized construction and craft businesses can also benefit, are an example of the merger of political, cultural and economic interests in order to promote a common goal: to preserve and appreciate the cultural heritage. Within this scope, the federal government will cover up to 50 percent of the eligible costs, which is important support for many projects in monument preservation.
The initiative for the renovation of the Augsburg rail park is a step in the right direction in order not only to preserve historical sites, but also to make them usable for training and learning for future generations. With the continuation of such programs, the BUND can make a significant contribution to maintaining and maintaining our cultural landscape.
