Autumn holiday chaos: full closure between Bamberg and Forchheim!

Deutsche Bahn (DB) uses the autumn holidays to drive the urgently needed four -track expansion of the railway line between Bamberg and Forchheim. During the full closure on October 25, 10 p.m. until November 1, 10 p.m., there are massive restrictions in long -distance transport. The fast ICE trains between Munich and Berlin are only run hourly instead of half an hour and diverted via Würzburg, which extends the travel time by about 100 minutes. Trips from and to Erlangen, Bamberg and Coburg are completely canceled during this time, and the IC connections from Karlsruhe to Leipzig are also deleted from Nuremberg.

For the entire blocking period, train traffic between Bamberg and Forchheim is replaced by buses. On Sunday, October 27th, the closure will even be extended to the route between Bamberg and Nuremberg, so that no regional and S-Bahn railways can also run here. DB overall project manager Nicole Kumpfmüller-Böhm emphasizes that these measures are necessary to be able to carry out work that is impossible during normal train operation. In addition, new stops and construction work on the route should be completed in December, which will significantly improve the flow of traffic according to www.br.de .
