First dementia screening day in Haßfurt: Free test for older ones
On Thursday, September 26th, there is an important step in the early diagnosis of dementia in Haßfurt-the first day of dementia screening as part of the 5th Bavarian Demenwoche. This day, organized by Digidem Bavaria, the digital dementia register of Bavaria in Erlangen, in cooperation with the nursing and living advice center of the Haßberge district office, offers the citizens of the Haßberge district the opportunity to check their memory free of charge.
The screening day is specially designed for people aged 60 and over, who have noticed changes in their memory or in which relatives have found a decrease in intellectual achievements. With the provision of a scientifically sound short test, which only takes about 15 to 20 minutes, the first indications should be obtained whether a further medical examination is advisable. However, this test cannot replace a complete medical diagnosis, but is only suitable for the first assessment.
The importance of early detection
dementia is often recognized late, which makes it difficult to coping with the disease for those affected and relatives. "The earlier a dementia is diagnosed, the better the chances that those affected and their relatives can deal with the symptoms," explains Prof. Dr. med. Peter Kolominsky-Rabas, neurologist and one of the project managers of Digidem Bavaria. Therefore, the event is of great importance - it makes a valuable contribution to the sensitization for the disease and promoting early diagnosis.
When participating in the screening day, a prior registration is required. Interested parties must register with Nadja Pfeifer from the nursing and living advice center of the Haßberge district office by September 17th. This can be done either by phone at 09521/27495 or by email to psp@hassberge.de. The office hours are from Monday to Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
For people with visual or hearing impairments, it is advisable to bring the necessary aids with you, since the test cannot be carried out without them. This shows the inclusive commitment of the project team, which ensures that everyone involved has the same chances of participating in the study and testing their memory.
The long -term goal of Digidem Bavaria is the improvement of the life situation of people with dementia and their caring relatives. The project receives support from the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention (STMGP), which gives the initiative additional weight.
Citizens in Haßfurt and the surrounding area are cordially invited to take this opportunity to test the memory. This is not only an opportunity to have health questions addressed, but also a step to improve the handling of dementia in the community.
