Butterfly garden for seniors: Doing good together in Idar-Oberstein!

On the World Alzheimer's Day, committed helpers converted the site of the AWO senior center in Idar into a breathtaking butterfly garden. Inspired by the employee program "Oie makes it possible!" And supported by 2,000 euros, the first work started on August 10th. Volunteers from the community, including family members and children, tackled vigorously to prepare the garden and select the plants. Particularly noteworthy is the free support of Lars Feil, who took over the heavy earthworks with his excavator.

The first plants were delivered on September 19, and after intensive preparations, the first planting campaign with 18 participants took place. In over 30 hours of work, dug, planted and cast, while the helpers celebrated the sunny day with a barbecue break. Jasmin Klein, the head of the senior center, was enthusiastic about the initiative: "The transformation of the garden is a great project for young and old." Thanks to the cooperation of everyone involved, the new butterfly garden will now be a place of joy for the senior citizens. Further information on this offers Nahews.de .
