Nationwide warning day in the MTK: This is how your security is tested!

The coming Thursday, September 12th, marks the nationwide warning day in Germany, on which dangerous situation is made mobile. This year not only the time-honored siren system is activated, but also modern technologies such as warning apps and mobile phone arms. Especially in the Main-Taunus district, an extensive warning concept is tested that aims to effectively inform the population about potential dangers.
In this exercise, over 100 sirens are heard in every corner of the Main-Taunus circle. The siren, known for its volume and reach, plays a crucial role in alerting the population even during sleep. It takes attention and causes a so -called "alarm effect". The fact that people are made aware of a possible danger is essential to act quickly and correctly in an emergency.
diverse warning channels
This trial warning uses a variety of channels to reach people in good time. In addition to the sirens, radio and television broadcasts, special warning apps such as Hessenwarn and Nina as well as information boards in cities and municipalities are part of the warning system. Even Deutsche Bahn will activate its information systems to provide information in real time. Social media also play a role in reaching the population.
Another important element is informal communication among friends, in families and neighborhoods, where warnings are passed on. The great importance of these measures is shown by not only testing the current information systems, but also making it aware of the entire population how important it is to pay attention to warnings and to prepare.
The exercise will be initiated at 11:00 a.m. by the Federal Office for Population Protection and Disaster Aid (BBK). At this point, the modular warning system (Mowas) is activated in order to trigger the warning messages, which then get into the municipalities at the same time. The all -clear will then be announced at 11:45 a.m. and the trial warnings are largely lifted again.
feedback on the trial warning
At the same time, a rehearsal warning survey is carried out. Citizens are invited to tell their experiences to find out which channels the warnings were best received. This is done via a public online survey that starts on September 12th at 11 a.m. and runs until September 19th. Your feedback is anonymous to protect the privacy of the participants.
The survey data are carefully evaluated and should help to further improve the processes of the warning system. The results are planned for spring 2024 and will be published on the BBK website. This feedback loop is particularly important because it will flow directly into the preparations for the next nationwide warning day on September 11, 2025.
The warning system always remains ready during the sample to contact people as quickly as possible in the event of a real emergency. In an emergency, citizens receive recommendations for action and contacts with relevant contact points in order to be effectively supported in self -protection.
The nationwide warning day is not just an exercise, but a step in the direction of a better informed, safer Germany. With the design of an active warning system, it is intended to ensure that the population can always react well in crisis situations.
