Demonstration in Braunschweig against state elections: mobilize 250 participants

The social media called for a meeting a day earlier, but the assembly authority was not properly reported. Initially, 70 people gathered in the Square of German Unity in order to air their displeasure over the election results.

In the course of the evening, the crowd grew to around 250 participants. The demonstration developed into an elevator that started around 7:15 p.m. Communication between the demonstrators and the police officers used was difficult. Many participants showed little willingness to discuss what the Situation also fueled. It was particularly striking that around 50 people at the top of the train began to mash their faces.

The number of demonstrators did not want to adhere to the predetermined route of the police, which led to tensions. The mood among the hooded participants temporarily became more aggressive. Finally, the police managed to agree on a route. This led from the Square of German Unity through Münzstraße, Dankwardstraße, Steinweg, Magnitorwall, Georg-Eckert-Straße, Bohlweg, Waisenhausdamm and Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße to Friedrich-Wilhelm-Platz.

The meeting was officially declared there by the participants, and most people quickly made their way home. However, sporadic incidents occurred during the elevator. A man tried to influence the meeting by loud calls, whereby his statements were classified as unconstitutional. The police then initiated criminal proceedings against him. Another participant showed the so -called Hitler salute in the direction of the meeting, which is a serious criminal offense. This man was also taken by the emergency services, and another criminal proceedings were initiated.

In addition, the demonstration train led to traffic disorders in the city center, which the police powers used with additional challenges.
