Shock in Sossenheim: 17-year-old escapes in the stolen car and an accident

In the early morning of August 30, 2024, the calm in Sossenheim was disturbed by an exciting chase. An attentive patrol from the police noticed a suspicious vehicle at a petrol station, the driver of which immediately switched to flight mode when the officers wanted to stop him.

At around 4:00 a.m., the police tried to persuade the driver of a VW Golf in "Westerbachstraße" with light and sound signals. But the driver, a 17-year-old teenager, gave the gas and raced away. Despite the rapid reaction of the officials and the persecution of the vehicle, the police decided to cancel the persecution. The reason: The suspicious driver continued his escape at terrifying speed and disregarded any traffic rules, which led to it soon disappeared from the field of vision of the patrol.

The story, however, took a dramatic turn when the Golf at the confluence "Alt-Sossenheim / Siegener Straße" lost control due to the excessive speed and crashed into a nearby house wall. In this impact, the driver was injured and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for a medical examination. It turned out that his reason for the risky escape was probably even more urgent than initially assumed.

The subsequent investigations quickly revealed that the young person had no valid driver's license. In addition, both the vehicle and the attached license plates, which were also registered as stolen, were illegitimate. To make matters worse, there was suspicion that the driver was under the influence of intoxicating means.
