A tragic traffic accident on the B 28 took a fatal turn on Wednesday afternoon, around 2:50 p.m., when two vehicles collided head -on. The circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident are still unclear. The 60-year-old driver of a Skoda was on the way from Ergenzingen towards Rottenburg when he got on the opposite lane and broke up with the vehicle of a 38-year-old, a Toyota.
In the terrible impact, both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be freed from the fire brigade. The Toyota driver suffered such serious injuries that he died at the scene of the accident. The Skoda driver was seriously injured and had to be flown to a nearby clinic with a rescue helicopter.
Investigations and rescue measures
The Tübingen traffic police immediately started the investigation. At the order of the public prosecutor, an expert was consulted to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. In the following hours, the B 28 between the motorway entrance and the Seebronn junction was closed to traffic in order to be able to carry out the rescue and recovery measures undisturbed. The road could not be released until around 6.30 p.m.
The property damage is said to be estimated at around 35,000 euros, and the two accident cars had to be towed. The fire brigade was on site with six vehicles and 25 emergency services to carry out the rescue measures. In addition, two emergency doctors and a rescue helicopter were used, supported by 15 other rescue workers. The Rottenburg road maintenance department was also involved in coping with the accident.
This incident illustrates the dangers of road traffic and the unpredictability of such tragic events. Even if the exact reasons for the accident are currently being investigated, the effects for the relatives of the deceased and for those who had to help at the scene of the accident are immeasurable.
