In the heart of Bonn-Rhein victory, the literary enthusiasts await an exciting autumn program of the reading series "Visiting the sofa". For over two decades, this series has been a fixture in the cultural life of the region. The university and district library has again invited important authors this season to present their works and come into conversation with the audience.

The beginning program starts on September 13, 2024 and offers four readings that are characterized by diversity and current topics. The renowned journalist and non -fiction author Petra Reski starts up. In her latest work "All’italiana - as I tried to become an Italian", she takes the audience on a personal trip through the culture of Italy and her experience as a new citizen in Venice. They also made their research on the mafia known, which brings an exciting background to their work.

On October 2, 2024, Jürgen Wiebicke, who is known as the moderator of the "Philosophical Radio" on WDR5, will come up. In his book "First aid for Democracy Savior", he addresses the challenges that our society faces in times of increasing contempt for democracy. Wiebick's call to active commitment will surely stimulate many participants.

On October 16, 2024, Joe Bausch, an actor and doctor, gives insights into his moving life. His book "Crazy Blood. Or: How I became" describes his childhood and youth in the Westerwald, shaped by hard experiences with violence and humiliation. The audience will certainly touch his honest retelling.

The reading series closes on November 4, 2024 with a new novel by Olga Grjasnowa, which is entitled "July, August, September". When she tells the experiences of a modern Jewish family in Berlin and Tel Aviv, she promises to pick up cultural questions and identity in an entertaining way. The readings take place in the library of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, each at 7:30 p.m. The admission price is 12 euros, reduced 8 euros.
