IGBCE Lausitz: Farewell to Ute Liebsch and departure into the future
the IG BCE Lausitz and the future in the companies
At a conference in the Suhler Klubhaus Schwarze Pumpe (Spremberg), the long-time IGBCE district manager Ute Liebsch was adopted and the course set for the future with 120 trustees, local group members and guests.
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, a large conference of IG BCE Lausitz took place in black pumps. The long-time IGBCE district manager Ute Liebsch was said goodbye to Lausitz after over 20 years of work and the new team with the new director Reni Richter was presented. At the same time, the newly elected IGBCE trusted people and local groups were set to the future.
As part of the preparation for the large nationwide IGBCE congress in 2025, the trustees in the companies and board members of the IGBCE groups are re-elected every four years. These people are crucial for the orientation and assertiveness of the IGBCE in Lusatia.
The event offered the opportunity to appreciate the work of Ute Liebsch in the region appropriately. Prominent keynote speakers, including Uwe Teubner, main board member of the IGBCE, chairman of the group of LEAG, three LEAG board members and Michael Kretschmer, Saxon Prime Minister, emphasized the good cooperation and social partnership with the IGBCE. They emphasized the important role of the union in the transformation of Lausitz and its many years of connection to Ute Liebsch.
At the event, Stephanie Albrecht-Suliak, the head of the IGBCE Nordost, and Hendrik Fischer, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Energy of the State of Brandenburg, held central speeches.
The conference of the trustees and local groups of IGBCE Lausitz took place after the festive event. The central challenges of trade union work were discussed in short input workshops. Topics such as education, structural change, youth work in the district and the future anchoring of the IGBCE in the region were the focus.
The clear message of the day is: The future of the IGBCE is still in the companies. In order to compensate for the foreseeable decline in members in the coal -based energy -operated, IGBCE Lausitz relies on new business areas such as electromobility, gas/hydrogen, renewable energies, plastic, glass and chemical industry.
In this context, the cooperation with the operating structures and the creation of collective agreement structures is of great importance. The IGBCE Lausitz wants to stay strong and become even stronger in future companies.Reni Richter, district manager of IGBCE Lausitz, emphasized the importance of the Montan determination from the lignite. With a self -confident look into the future, IGBCE Lausitz wants to maintain and expand its strength in the companies. This goal can only be achieved with a strong IGBCE in the region.
The IGBCE Lausitz is motivated to the future and will actively address the challenges of transformation.

About us:
The district of Lausitz of the IGBCE extends geographically from the Brandenburg Lübben in the Spreewald via Lausitz to Guben in the north, Falkenberg in the east and Görlitz in the south on the Polish border. Our employees in mining and energy generation, especially for mining and power plant operators LEAG, are therefore largely affected by political structural change and the coal phase-out. Another focus is the chemical industry at the location in Schwarzheide. In addition, we look after almost 80 companies from various areas such as paper, glass, plastic and ceramic industry. District manager is Reni Richter. As one of five districts, the Lausitz district belongs to the Northeast district.
