The successful start of the new program year is an important step to enrich the cultural and educational policy life in Dachau and to offer citizens to actively participate in social discourses. In view of the current challenge for democratic values, dealing with political issues is more important than ever. The Dachau Forum wants to encourage to get involved and promote democratic thinking.

The Dachau Forum is an important part of cultural and social life in the Dachau region. It not only offers a platform for education and discussion, but also a space for social encounters and promoting the sense of community. In fact, an investigation by the University of Augsburg from 2020 shows that such education initiatives can have a positive impact on the social interaction and the commitment of citizens. Events such as the seminar on political philosophy offered offer participants the opportunity to actively deal with social challenges and to form their opinions.

In times when trust in democratic institutions and processes are increasingly decreasing worldwide, the importance of such events should not be underestimated. The current developments in countries such as the USA or Hungary, where populist movements gain influence, illustrate the need to offer young and older people the tools for active participation in democracy. It is all the more important that initiatives such as the Dachau Forum Raum for critical discussions and the exchange of ideas create.

Cultural Education and Participation

The comprehensive event program of the Dachau Forum reflects the need for cultural education and participation. It is not only important on the imparting of knowledge and qualifications, but also on the creation of experiences that combine people. The excursions to historical sites as part of the program are an excellent example of this. Such activities not only promote historical awareness, but also strengthen local identity.

Statatistics shows that in Germany educational institutions that promote cultural education often promote more citizens in social and political activities. A survey by the German Volkshochschul Association from 2021 shows that the participants of such educational programs are more committed in their local environment and are more active in political discussions. The Dachauer Forum could therefore also serve as a model for other regions that pursue similar goals.

The combination of education and culture not only has positive effects on the participants, but also on the entire society. If citizens actively participate in the design of their community, this leads to a stronger social cohesion and a better understanding of complex social challenges. The Dachauer Forum is a shining example of an initiative that actively promotes these values.
