Vacation 2024: 85 percent of Hamburg's return back rest recovered
Most vacationers in Germany have apparently recovered this summer. According to a current, representative survey by the Forsa opinion research institute, which was carried out on behalf of DAK health, 85 percent of the participants stated that they recovered well or very well. Compared to the previous year, when it was 82 percent, this shows a gratifying increase. These findings come from a survey that was carried out between 13 and 26 August 2024 and took part in 1,001 people aged 14 and over.
The most important recreational factors for the respondents seem to be the sun, nature and time with the family. It is interesting to notice that avoiding smartphones and the Internet played a central role in almost every third vacationer. In today's, digitally shaped world, however, it is challenging to leave the constant access to information and social media behind.
different recovery by gender
The survey also reveals gender -specific differences in relaxation. While 45 percent of men reported a very good relaxation, it was only 37 percent for women. This raises questions about the different expectations and experiences of men and women on vacation. Only 14 percent of the respondents were unable to collect new strength during their vacation, which is a significant improvement compared to the previous year, when almost every fifth was not well recovered. Among those who could not recover, about a third stated that stress with family or friends impaired the recovery effect; In addition, 19 percent called the great heat as a hindrance.
The outstanding relaxation of the older generations is particularly striking. Of the over 60s, 90 percent reported that they recovered well or very well. In comparison, a significant proportion of younger holidaymakers is dissatisfied with the recovery. Of the respondents, the information not to have recovered well, 49 percent could not switch off - an increase compared to 61 percent in 2023.
The DAK vacation report also cited the influence of stress on relaxation. For many, the combination of family obligations and expectations of the perfect vacation could be a considerable burden. This survey illuminates the challenges that people have, especially in younger age groups, to really switch off during their vacation.
Overall, the survey reflects a positive trend that may indicate increasing awareness of the importance of relaxation and the conscious use of time in nature. The results invite you to think about individual vacation plans and to search for recreational opportunities next time that better meet personal needs.
