Abitur on the west coast: dramatic differences to Flensburg!
Dithmarschen, Deutschland - Fewer students on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein reach the Abitur compared to urban areas such as Kiel or Flensburg. The alarming difference was known by an answer from the state government to a request from the SPD parliamentary group. While Flensburg is at the top with over 71 percent of high school graduates, the proportion in the Steinburg and Dithmarschen districts is only 34.1 and 31.3 percent.
Bernd Schauer, spokesman for the Urbatrieh union and science, emphasizes that the students are disadvantaged on the west coast. Long approaches to high schools and the lack of community schools with upper grades are just a few of the problems. In addition, the proportion of non -trained temporary workers in schools is highest, which has a negative impact on teaching quality. The state government, on the other hand, points out that the municipalities are responsible for school offers and that they decide themselves. Further details on this great educational attendance are in a current report on www.ndr.de to read.
