New school center opened in Rath: Realschule Borbecker Straße starts

In Düsseldorf-Rath, an important step in the educational landscape was recently taken: The new Realschule Borbecker Straße started operating at the beginning of the school year 2024/25. The inauguration took place on Friday, September 6th, in the presence of local dignitaries, including city director Burkhard Hintzsche. This new educational institution will in future offer around 540 students a modern learning environment.

City Director Hintzsche was visibly proud of the project, which was realized in just two years. "In just two years we have built a new, contemporary school center for around 540 students in Rath," he said. The concept includes not only classrooms, but also special areas that should promote learning and teaching. With the opening this season, the school is continuously expanded to include fifth grade students.

modern room concept and diverse offers

The Realschule Borbecker Straße is divided into six clusters on three floors. This facilitates access to a modern school yard that offers generous playing areas and areas to relax. The new facility comprises 18 classrooms and numerous areas for leisure and inclusion. In addition, an auditorium, a break room and a cafeteria that ensure comprehensive support for the students.

A special highlight is the two -part sports hall with an area of around 1,800 square meters. This modern sports facility is accessible to school sports and clubs and offers separate entrances so that pupils and athletes can benefit equally. The sporting possibilities are another building block that is intended to promote the well -being and health of the students.

The entire school is designed for sustainability. The roofs of the educational institution are intensely greened and equipped with photovoltaic systems that contribute to the use of renewable energies. In addition, an innovative heating system is used based on intelligent heat pumps. This not only improves the energy efficiency of the building, but also ensures a pleasant learning climate.

The financial effort for the construction was around 61 million euros. Those responsible behind this impressive project are the industrial rain Düsseldorf-Reisholz AG (IDR AG), which were responsible for planning and implementation.
