Security controls in Hamburg Central Station: Weapons ensured

In an urgent security measure, the Federal Police Inspection Hamburg mobilized a large contingent on the evening of September 7, 2024. Between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., around 60 officials carried out comprehensive controls in the Hamburg Central Station and in the Reeperbahn station to ensure the safety of travelers.

The officials checked a total of 179 people and found a worrying amount of dangerous objects. A total of five knives, a telescopic stroke and two stimulus sprayers were secured. In addition, two violations of the drug law and three search goals were found. These measures are part of a continuous endeavor to protect public security.

Security cooperation in focus

The controls were carried out in close cooperation with the Hamburg police and the DB security as part of the “Allianz Safe Central Station” initiative. This partnership aims to strengthen people's feeling of security in the train station and to recognize potential dangers at an early stage. The topic of bodily harm by weapons and dangerous tools, in particular through the use of knives, is the focus of the security strategies of the federal police.

The presence of dangerous objects and their use not only affect travelers, but also on the general security of the population. The federal police take these threats seriously and sees it as their duty to continuously act against such risks. Regular checks are therefore indispensable to raise awareness of the dangers of gun ownership in rail traffic.

These preventive measures are designed to make it clear that weapons and similar dangerous objects in public transport have no place. The Federal Police Inspection Hamburg plans to continue similar missions in the future to further increase the safety in rail traffic. Cooperation with other security authorities remains a central part of this strategy.
