On Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, a single man in the cities of Übach-Palenberg and Herzogenrath ensured several police operations and finally ended up in police custody.

The incident began in Übach-Palenberg-Boscheln, where the 45-year-old man had consumed alcohol. After a friend had rejected his advances, there was a violent argument in which the man was injured when he wanted to leave the apartment.

Despite his injuries, he sat in his car and drove off. On the way between Übach-Palenberg and Herzogenrath, he was stopped by a patrol car from the Aachen police after the Heinsberger control center had previously been alerted. The man was drunk and lost control of his vehicle, finally collided with a tree in the ditch.

The police officers had to free him from the car, whereupon he resisted. He stepped into the leg of a policewoman and threatened her. To prevent further incidents, handcuffs were created and a spitting hood was put on. Fortunately, the policewoman was unharmed.

The man spent the night in police custody and his driver's license was drafted. The police initiated investigations against several offenses, including bodily harm, property damage and resistance to enforcement officers.

This incident clearly shows the dangers of drunkenness at the wheel and the unpredictability of aggressive behavior. It serves as a memory of the need to act responsibly and respect the laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
