Experts plan controlled explosion of a 150-kilo bomb near Rüdesheim

New measures to dispose of war back in Rüdesheim

In Rüdesheim, a 150-kilo bomb from the Second World War was recently discovered, in which the Hesse ordnance service was unable to defuse the second detonator. For this reason, experts are now planning to blow up the unexploded man in a controlled manner next Tuesday, as a spokeswoman for the Wiesbaden police headquarters announced.

The bomb was found high above the Niederwald monument with the imposing Germania figure during routine exploratory work near Rüdesheim. Due to the fact that many bombs were dropped in this area during the Second World War, such a discovery is not unusual. For safety reasons, the area around the dud was cordoned off.

Although evacuations have so far not been considered necessary, there is still a risk of controlled explosion. It is strongly recommended to keep up to date with current developments. The local authorities and experts are working to safely dispose of the bomb in order to minimize the risk to the population. - nag
