grilling with sustainable meat - a conscious pleasure

In times of increasing environmental awareness and growing demand for organic products, it can be seen that grilling with sustainable meat can be a good decision for the environment. But how does this affect the wallet?

The Institute of German Economy has recently published an investigation that shows that a grill basket with organic products is significantly more expensive than a grill basket with conventionally produced foods. For four people, this means an issue of around 48 euros for the organic grill basket compared to almost 27 euros for the conventional grill basket.

In particular, the organic meat drives the costs up, with sausages and organic cattle steaks record the greatest price jumps. But the organic options are also noticeably more expensive for grill supplements such as peppers, tomatoes and salad.

Interestingly, it can be seen that a vegan grillware basket without organic quality is a little more expensive than a meat-containing grill basket, but still cheaper than a purely organic-certified variant. For example, you pay around 6.70 euros per person for the conventional option, 12 euros for organic products and around 8.20 euros for the vegan alternative.

It becomes clear that grilling with sustainable meat is a conscious decision that costs a little more, but makes a positive contribution to environmental protection. The higher prices for organic products reflect the more complex and resource-saving production that reduces the long-term environmental impact.

Overall, it can be seen that awareness of sustainable nutrition is getting stronger even when grilling and people are ready to dig deeper into their pockets to protect the environment.
