Flood alarm in the region: level at Starnberger See at a record level!
Checking the water quality at Lake Starnberg after heavy rainfalls
The latest heavy rain cases in May and June have a great influence. The Starnberg See in particular has been listening to an unusually high water level of 1.32 meters above the normal level for weeks. This has led to increased attention from the Wasserwirtschaftsamt Weilheim, which regularly monitors the situation.
Although the level is gradually falling on Ammersee, the flood warning for the district of Starnberg remains for the time being. In the coming days and weeks, further precipitation will be expected that can affect the water levels directly. A certain relaxation of the situation is only expected after several dry weeks.
The flood situation also has an impact on Bavarian lake shipping. While the regular timetable is already in force on Ammersee, there are still restrictions on Lake Starnberg. Only certain investors such as Starnberg, Tutzing and Seeshaupt are currently available, while others remain closed for the time being.
Despite the tense situation, the checking of the bathing water quality in the Starnberg district has provided good results. Both the lakes and the Würm show perfect condition. The health department conducts regular water samples and the first tests in May and June were extremely positive. Nevertheless, the Starnberg district office pointed out that caution in flooded areas is required when bathing.
Further information on the current measurement results of the bathing spots can be found on the official website of the district at www.lk-starnberg.de/badgewasser quality.
