New managing director of the district youth ring: Teresa by Jan in focus

Teresa from Jan has taken over the management of the district youth ring Ludwigslust-Parchim since July. With her extensive experience in youth work, the 38-year-old brings a breath of fresh air to the organization, which is committed to the concerns of children and adolescents according to their own standards. Previously, she worked as an official youth worker in the Grabow office and had a central role in the secretariat of the Enquete Commission "Jung in MV". Their comprehensive knowledge of regional youth work and its challenges forms the foundation for their new function.

The voice in political space

With their change to the shops of the district youth ring, Jan sees the opportunity to act as a contact for children and adolescents. "I am now changing the pages, so to speak. In the past, I did classic child and youth work, today I do the lobbying for children and young people," she describes her new role. At the constituent meeting of the district council, the youth ring recently became able to get a voting place in the youth welfare committee, which will have a strongly positive influence on the advocacy representation of young people in the district.

Challenges and Managing Director

Apart from her professional responsibility, Teresa is also the mother of a 19-month-old son who was born with trisomy 21. This undoubtedly brings additional challenges, but it shows itself optimistic: "It is actually a question of the organization," said Jan. Her son is looked after during the day in an integrative day care center, which allows her to perform her tasks as managing director and be there for him at the same time. "Of course it will be challenging, but I am taking on this challenge. And now it has been well. He makes it really easy for us."

Engagement and volunteering in focus

by Jan sees the importance of volunteering in youth work as essential: "Youth work is a profession for me and cannot only be covered by volunteers. It always needs full-time staff. This must be clear to politics," she argues. Her commitment does not only extend to the district youth ring. She is also active on the board of the district sports youth of the district and as a board member of the Schwerin girls' meeting. Their goal is to strengthen the connection between full -time and volunteer work in the field of youth work.

Looking into the future and important dates

In the coming weeks, Teresa plans to deal with her new role more intensively. The summer break also offers the opportunity to prepare for upcoming projects. A highlight will be the World Children's Day on September 20, at which the kick -off event for a district -wide youth committee takes place in Parchim. Here the voices of the young people are to be collected and heard. Interested parties can contact the district youth ring via social media or by email to obtain further information.
