Celebrate with colors and tradition: Dia de los Muertos in Lohr!

On Saturday, November 2, the old town hall in Lohr will be the lively setting of the first Dia de Los Muertos, organized by the Volkshochschule (VHS) Lohr-Gemünden and the local Latino community. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitors can immerse themselves in the impressive Mexican tradition, in which the souls of the deceased are celebrated with a feast, music and dance. The headmistress Susanne Duckstein emphasized that this event should not only offer a way to experience the culture and customs of the Latino community up close, but also serves to arouse interest in the Spanish courses of the VHS.

From 10 a.m., guests can visit a magnificent altar and an exhibition of Mexican handicrafts. The highlight will be a traditional move of the Catrinas around the town hall, provided the weather is playing. Unlike Halloween, the Dia de Los Muertos stands for a celebration of life and the honor of deceased relatives in bright colors and with a happy atmosphere.
