Future of the Upper Palatinate: Financial crisis is forcing municipalities to cut hard!
Schmidmühlen, Deutschland - The financial perspectives for the municipalities in the Upper Palatinate make you take notice! Alarming figures were presented at the recent district association meeting of the Bavarian Community Day in Schmidmühlen. Around 160 mayors and managers learned that the "good years are over". Director Hans-Peter Mayer warned of a “structural crisis” and predicted a shocking deficit: Last year it was 2.4 billion euros-in just one half of the year, this number doubled to 5 billion euros.
The municipalities have to get prepared for massive cuts, since their income will only increase by about two percent, while the expenses skyrocket. Mayer emphasized that not all desirable projects can be realized in the future. Great challenges are to be expected, especially in voluntary commitments and childcare. Migration also remains an urgent topic, with a decline in access, but an increase in war refugees from Ukraine. The loading of the anchor centers is 80 to 90 percent. The municipalities are faced with the big task of mastering the financial and social challenges together without self -egoism. more at www.onetz.de .
