Blocking and confusion: Cyclists fight for diversion in Mühlheim
Cycling in Mühlheim is currently a challenge. The bridge on the federal road 448, which normally offers a direct connection between Mühlheim and Offenbach, has been closed since mid -June due to extensive renovation work. But that's not the only hurdle for cyclists and pedestrians: the alternative detour, which the authorities set up, is also affected by construction site activities in the Mühlheimer Wald.
The problem arose when the forestry long on the new diversion route began to remove tree felling to remove dead trees and rejuvenate the forest. According to Revierförster Till Baumhöfner, this should actually be completed within about two weeks. However, there were technical difficulties with the wooden harvested, which hinder the work. Marching pedestrians and cyclists threaten additional uncertainties, since the diversion is also regularly blocked.
confusion among cyclists
The confusion about the situation on site is understandable. Mühlheim citizens, such as the local Erika Ritzl, report inconvenience on their usual paths. "I met a lot of cyclists who no longer knew how to get ahead," she describes the situation. Many people are dependent on these routes to get to work. Ritzl himself is currently using an alternative route that leads you past the well -known restaurant "Zur Käsmühl".
The request to use a detour that is actually not passable leads to justified displeasure. "Why is a replacement route set up when it is blocked again?" Asks Ritzl and pleads to remove the shut -off strap on weekends if there are no work. "In the past few days, the diversion was permanently closed without machines being seen somewhere."
The situation is known to the forestry office. Baumhöfner explains that wood harvest operations are always associated with certain risks. Even if there are no machines on the road, it is dangerous because branches can break off and fall on the way. Against this background, it is advised to strictly observe the barriers even in supposedly calm weather.
collaboration and misleading communication
A essential source of the problems was apparently a misunderstanding between Hessen Mobil and the forestry office. When planning the detour, the forestry office had not been taken into account in the official hearing process, which led to the unfortunate overlap of the construction sites. "We thought that all relevant information on traffic routing would be passed on urban," explains a spokesman for Hessen Mobil. The forestry office will be included in the planning in the future to avoid such conflicts.
The work on the bridge is planned by the end of December. Until then, road users have to adjust to changes and consider alternative routes. The authorities ask for understanding and patience, while the challenges of the construction sites are mastered together.
The current situation in Mühlheim shows how important precise and timely communication between different offices is in order to avoid inconvenience for citizens. While the renovation work on the bridge progresses, it remains to be seen how quickly the diversion will be usable again.
