in Bad Lippspringe there was an incident on Tuesday morning on a construction site that was luckily a light, but had the potential for far -reaching consequences. Two workers, at the age of 27 and 34, worked on a fiber optic construction site in Breslauer Straße when a compressor that was necessary for their work caught fire.

The incident occurred around 9:15 a.m., while the men were currently busy with laying work. The compressor, which was operated in the hold of her Citroen jumper panel van, caught fire due to a technical defect. The Situation required quick action - and the two workers reacted in the spirit.

brave reaction of the workers

The two men worked in the immediate danger area because the van parked close to houses. When the fire broke out, the older worker sat by the van and quickly drove to the next intersection to bring the vehicle out of the danger zone. His colleague, on the other hand, bravely fought with the burning compressor and managed to lift it from the van.

The situation was tense; While one kept the flames in chess, the other ensured that the burning compressor did not cause more damage. Both worked hectically to keep the risk of passers -by and surrounding buildings as low as possible. Parts of the burning device landed on the intersection, where the fire brigade was alerted and immediately arrived to extinguish the fire.

consequences of the incident

The fire brigade was able to quickly control the fire, which was avoided by greater damage to the van and at the construction site. Nevertheless, there was a slight damage to the vehicle, and the road surface and the construction site barrier were affected.

Since the workers had inhaled flue gas during the incident, they were taken to a hospital in Paderborn for treatment as a precaution. Although their injuries were classified as easy, the incident shows how important quick action is in critical moments.

In addition, the police were informed, who reported the incident to the Office for Occupational Safety. This proactive measure could result in potential further examinations and measures to improve security standards.
