In Saarland, extensive construction projects are currently underway, which lead to significant impairments on numerous roads. Many drivers have to prepare for road closures while the work is carried out. We provide a comprehensive overview of the current large construction sites.

One of the most important projects affects the driveway from the western clip to the A620 towards Saarlouis, which is expected to be completely closed from Monday, September 9th until October 6th. This means that even from the nearby allotment garden, no onward journey towards Saarlouis is possible. Autobahn GmbH has announced that the traffic is diverted via Heuduckstraße and Malstatter Straße to the Malatter Brücke junction (AS 14). The reason for the blocking is the establishment of traffic safety measures by the central municipal waste disposal company (ZKE) of the city of Saarbrücken, which indicates its long -term construction sites.

In the state capital of Saarbrücken there are also several construction sites, including at the main train station, where current work could influence the journey. The city administration informs that other areas such as the Johannisbrücke and season are also the focus of the construction activities.

Another major construction project begins on September 16, 2024: The removal of storm damage on the L346 between Beckingen-Honzrath and Merzig-Merchingen. This is expected to take four weeks and the affected section is completely blocked for traffic. Road users are diverted via the L346 and various other state roads.

Furthermore, the L105 between Gersheim and Herbitzheim will also be closed to the removal of unites for several weeks for the removal of unites due to the Pentecostal weather. The detour is a bit more complicated over several state roads to guide the traffic around the construction site and thus avoid traffic jams.

At the same time, from September 20 to September 23, the A8 between Wellesweiler and Neunkirchen-Oberstadt is completely closed due to the replacement new building of the Kasbrechtalbrücke in the direction of Luxembourg. Here, too, traffic is diverted, which could bring additional loads for commuters.

In addition, the road renovation work in Bous is another point on the agenda: On September 27, the roundabout at the EKC Bous will be blocked for several days, which results in significant detours for traffic. This is caused by the repair of the road to improve traffic quality and increase security.

Finally, it remains to be seen that the numerous construction sites in Saarland not only provide inconvenience in everyday traffic, but are also necessary to modernize and remedy the infrastructure. Further information on current construction sites and the associated traffic disabilities can be found in the traffic reports.
