New ways for environmental protection: cleaned waste water as a hope of hope
Climate change has a firm grip on Saxony-Anhalt, and the effects are unmistakable. Above all, the drought years have led to the fact that the groundwater mirror drops threatingly. But in Gardelegen could offer an innovative project.
As part of a pilot project, cleaned waste water is no longer simply led into rivers, but is used specifically to stabilize the groundwater level. The state government promotes this project with an impressive amount of 780,000 euros.
Environment Minister Armin Willingmann emphasizes the urgency of the project in view of the more common extreme weather events. From heavy rain to long -lasting drought - the challenges are diverse. Efficient water management is therefore essential to successfully counter the climatic changes.
The expansion of the sewage treatment plant in Gardelegen by a test system on a pilot scale marks the beginning of a promising development. The scientific accompaniment by the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences ensures a well-founded evaluation of the project. If the first results prove to be successful, this concept could be used far beyond Gardelegen and thus make an important contribution to securing the groundwater.
In times of climate change, such innovative approaches are of great importance. They show that problems can be tackled and solved with commitment and foresight. The project in Gardelegen could therefore not only be a local initiative, but also serve as a model for all of Saxony-Anhalt and thus make an important contribution to environmental protection. dpa
