Mukran ferry port: Protest against fracking - police dissolve blockade
Environmental effects of fracking in the focus of the demonstration in Mukran
Last Saturday, a demonstration with the motto "No Fracking LNG" took place in the area of the Mukran ferry. Around 150 participants gathered to draw attention to the environmental impact of fracking.
The meeting started at 1 p.m. and initially went peacefully. After the official end, however, around 30 people blocked the L29 in the intersection to the Mukran ferry port. The blockade took two hours until the police intervened and 18 people removed from the street. In addition, 20 references were made, four of whom refused to comply with it and then were taken into custody.
The operation was accompanied by the Stralsund police inspection on the intelligence service X to inform about the developments. The campaign ensured short -term traffic restrictions on the L29, but did not affect the regular operation of the ferry port as a whole.
The demonstration shows the growing awareness among the population for environmental issues and the associated willingness to become active in order to point out potential dangers to nature. The use of the police served to maintain public order and security to prevent escalation.
The Stralsund police inspection and the official social media channels are available for further information on the use and background of the demonstration.
