LPI-J: Inattentiveness leads to traffic accident in Weimar

A Sunday afternoon in Buttelstedter Straße in Weimar took an unfortunate turn when a traffic accident shook the participants at around 4:30 p.m. on July 3rd, 2024. A regular bus and several cars were involved in the incident, which was triggered by an unfortunate sequence of events.

The bus driver, probably by a brief moment of inattentiveness, started to move when the traffic light switched to green. Unfortunately, the situation before him was different than expected because the cars had previously stopped due to the red signal. The bus rammed the three vehicles in front of him, which led to a collision. Fortunately, there were only minor injuries to one of the drivers, but the damage caused by property is estimated at a total of 22,000 euros.

The streets of Weimar, usually shaped by liveliness and everyday life, were overshadowed by an unfortunate incident this Sunday. The effects of a short moment of carelessness showed up in damaged vehicles, frightened affected people and an unexpected cut in the daily routine of many people.

The State Police Inspection Jena and the Weimar police inspection always endeavor to clarify such events and to ensure security on the streets. The authorities are available for questions on 03643 8820 or by email at DGL.PI.weimar@polizei.thueringen.de

It remains to be hoped that future incidents can be avoided through attentive behavior and respect for the traffic rules. The message of caution and mindfulness should be remembered to ensure the safety of all road users. Because only by consideration can the risk of accidents be minimized.
