New midwife house in Troisdorf: Life -saving support for mothers

In the city of Troisdorf there is an important new midwife house that is scheduled to open its doors from the beginning of 2025. The midwives Karin Streu, Sylvia Schneider, Sylvia Nogens and her team worked hard to make this heart project reality. The midwife house will offer an urgently needed alternative to the already closed delivery rooms in the Rhein-Sieg district, where around 600,000 people live.

urgency for the region

After a series of closures in the region, only Troisdorf and Sieglar are left as options for expectant parents, who are dependent on clinical delivery. Karin Streu, an experienced midwife with 38 years of professional experience, emphasizes the urgency of this facility. "The closings left a gap that we want to fill with this midwife house," she explains.

Support of the city and the Community

The project supported the project with an amount of 50,000 euros, which shows how important the municipality believes the creation of this facility. The midwife house will not only be accessible to women in Troisdorf, but also for women from the surrounding area, who often have no access to delivery rooms. "It is crucial that we also receive this support from other municipalities," says Sylvia Schneider.

Renovation and equipment of the midwife house

The location of the midwife house, the former premises of the pathology in the old building of St. Josef, was selected on the basis of its suitability. Two birth rooms are created here, including one with a birth tavern-an equipment for which a crowdfunding campaign generated more than 22,000 euros in donations. "We are enthusiastic about the support we received," says Sylvia Nogens.

Education and Community engagement

In addition to obstetrics, the midwife house will also offer rooms for courses in which expectant parents and prospective midwives can be trained. This comprehensive approach not only promotes the community, but also ensures that future midwives obtain the necessary experience outside the hospital.

The meaning for obstetrics in the region

This initiative is particularly important in view of the challenges, in view of the challenges, in front of which many municipalities in the Rhein-Sieg district, in particular with the requirements for the faster accessibility of specialist stations for potentially complicated births. "We hope that our offers are accessible to all women in the region," affirmed Sylvia Nogens. "We don't want to offer elitist obstetrics, but offer the necessary support for everyone."

With modern rooms, a committed team and a clear focus on community and training is ready to make a valuable contribution to obstetrics in the Rhineland, as soon as it is 2025 is opened.
