Love math, is that possible? “Absolutely,” says the study group and has declared November 12th as I Love Math Day. To mark the day of action, the tutoring institute is now giving away a collection of math formulas - in the digital age, made entirely of paper, which can be picked up at many of its branches while stocks last. The free booklet in a practical A6 pocket size contains explanations of mathematical symbols, information on measurements and weights as well as explanations of percentage and interest calculations. Formulas for area and body calculations can be found there, as well as useful information about trigonometry and prime numbers. There are also the topics of powers and roots as well as logarithms and equations. The collection of formulas is available for download at ilovemathe.de (https://www.studienkreis.de/aktion/i-love-mathe/).
Math website offers fun and useful things
On the campaign page, the study group also presents funny and interesting facts about the subject loved by some and despised by others. Tricky math puzzles are accompanied by interesting fun facts. For example, you can find out what the expression “three cheese high” is all about and why it is called “squaring the circle”. Free learning videos, exercises and tasks are a real help when learning. They cover numerous topics from basic arithmetic and fractions to logarithms and exponential equations. Also there: the well-known YouTuber Johann Beurich aka DorFuchs. In five video tips produced for the study group, he shows what math can be used for.
Some are even afraid of math
More than every second tutor needs support in mathematics. The subject even instills fear in some people. Thomas Momotow from the Studienkreis says: "Studies assume that up to a third of the population suffers from so-called math anxiety. When those affected have to solve a math problem, they sweat, get a queasy feeling in their stomach, can no longer concentrate and even more so miscalculate." It may be surprising that math is still one of the most popular subjects. In Germany its popularity is only surpassed by sport. In other European countries such as Spain or France, mathematics is actually the favorite subject of most children and young people. This is the result of a survey of students for the “Report on the Future of Education 2024” (https://www.gostudent.org/de-de/education-report/2024/) by the online tutoring provider GoStudent.
As part of the GoStudent Group, the Studienkreis is one of the leading private education providers in Germany - on site and online.
