The family company Witte Barskamp, known as a leading manufacturer of high-precision clamping, positioning and measuring equipment, was awarded the title “Innovator of the Year 2024”.
The largest audience award in the German-speaking economy annually puts companies of all sizes and industries in the spotlight that are pioneering in their field. Among the nominees for the Audience Award 2024: Witte Barskamp for her impressive transformation and innovative strength in production technology. This award not only recognizes technical progress, but also the tireless commitment of the company, which has repositioned itself with a clear focus on sustainable transformation.
Transformation story of a traditional company
The story of transformation began in the early 2020s. At a time marked by economic challenges, Witte Barskamp found himself at a crossroads. “The situation was difficult,” remembers Jens Düffert, then managing director and now co-partner. It became clear: in order to remain competitive, comprehensive changes were necessary.
A radical renewal process began under the leadership of transformation expert Martin F. Schmidt, managing partner of ProGemma. No stone was left unturned, all processes were checked for efficiency and future viability, while at the same time they could rely on the loyalty and expertise of the 220-strong workforce. “Change processes can only succeed together and with the conviction of everyone,” says Schmidt.
Lean processes and the smart factory
A central element of the transformation process at Witte Barskamp was the implementation of the “Alissa” software, which ensures optimized process control and extensive digitalization. Production processes became leaner and collaboration became more efficient and flexible. Particularly noteworthy: The entire restructuring project was implemented without outside capital - a rare exception in times of high demand for credit.
At the same time, the factory at the headquarters was completely redesigned. The switch to production islands, automated machines and a driverless transport system have paved the way to the “smart factory”. The aim of these measures is to halve throughput times and increase productivity.
A new value system and innovative market approaches
In addition to optimizing internal processes, Witte Barskamp developed a new value system and an expanded brand image that embodies the spirit of transformation. The establishment of the Witte Academy as a forum for further training and innovation underlines the company's commitment to sustainable growth and employee development. In addition, artificial intelligence is used to increase efficiency in construction, so that engineers have more time for creative developments.
The new motto - “enjoy excellent clamping”
With the new motto “enjoy excellent clamping” Witte Barskamp shows that transformation and tradition are not a contradiction. The combination of precision, efficiency and innovative strength ensures international competitiveness and opens up new market opportunities - entirely in line with the vision of company founder Horst Witte.
Witte Barskamp will therefore be named “Innovator of the Year 2024” and will be one of 20 innovators up for public voting until November 15th (https://www.innovator-des-jahre.com/voting/).
