Quality of emergency care: a nationwide problem
Berlin (ots)
The emergency rescue in Germany is often criticized. A central concern is the insufficient quality in the control centers that are responsible for the first contact point in an emergency. According to a current research by the SWR, around 20 percent of the German control centers have no structured emergency call queries, which can have significant consequences for the care of patients with cardiovascular homes.
Missing standards endanger human life
The emergency call control centers play a crucial role in emergency care. They are not only responsible for receiving emergency calls, but also provide important security instructions and direct the callers to life -saving measures such as the cardiac massage. But the lack of standardized questions, known as SNA or SNAP, makes it difficult to quickly recognize and react accordingly.
The voice of the experts: alarming grievances
Helge Petersen, a member of the specialist work group of the German Fire Brigade Union, said in a statement that efficient structuring of the emergency call dialogue was not only important, but also a clear guide for first aid, in particular for telephone resuscitation. A quality management system must be linked to a software -based emergency call query to ensure sufficient standards.
federal legislation as a solution?
The discrepancy in the qualification of the control center staff and their working methods is perceived as a patchwork. In many cases, important decisions depend on the respective federal state and its regional health authorities, which leads to different approaches. Therefore, the federal health reform was addressed at this year's control center symposium in Bremerhaven.
Petersen stimulates that federal legislation could be used to create a uniform regulation for emergency care.
The reform requirement is clear
A draft law on the reform of emergency care was decided on July 17, 2004 in the Federal Cabinet. But Petersen is disappointed that the expertise from the control centers was hardly considered. "Right to do so afterwards over the patchwork is homemade suffering. That could have been done better," said his critical assessment.
The debate about emergency rescue in Germany clearly shows how important it is to implement systematics and standards in the control centers. This could not only improve the supply situation acutely, but also strengthen the trust of the population in emergency care.
