Speed camera in Zöbingen: rip -off or necessary noise protection?
in Zöbingen, a municipality in the Ostalb district, a radar trap on Bopfinger Strasse ensures heated debates and significant income. The 63-year-old Wolfgang Ballauf was flashed there, while he drove 40 km/h in a 30-seater zone that begins only 50 meters behind the entrance sign. Ballauf criticizes the short distance between the traffic sign and speed camera and wonders whether the regulations are not outdated. Despite his opposition to the notice of fines, this was rejected.
In 2023, the speed camera generated an impressive 600,425.76 euros in income. But the fine income seems to be declining: from January to September 2024, the income only added up to 249,226.78 euros. The district office defends the regulations and emphasizes that everything has been properly checked. Nevertheless, there are concerns that the installation of the radar trap does not happen in the sense of traffic safety and that citizens feel ripped off. How the case continues remains uncertain, and the ball run is considered to take legal action. You can find more about this here .
