Online training Well climate! : This is how educators save the climate!
The increasing challenges of climate change require innovative solutions, especially in the education sector. A new online training course starting in February 2026 takes this need into account. Under the title “Na Klima! – Understanding and communicating natural climate protection”, this initiative is aimed specifically at educatorsinside, teachervaluable training opportunities for teachers and other educators. How bildung.rlp.de reports, the project aims to promote the integration of educational content about natural climate protection and to motivate participants.
The offer includes a comprehensive database of materials that revolve around natural climate protection. These include the NaKlim and Klima-Campus projects, which serve as supplementary resources. The further training itself is free of charge and offers both practical knowledge and opportunities for implementation in everyday educational life for different age groups, from elementary to secondary school. Particularly noteworthy are the diverse online formats, which include self-learning phases, learning support and the opportunity for networking among the participants. These formats are part of the Natural Climate Protection (ANK) action program, which aims to promote projects to protect and renaturalize ecosystems.
Diverse further training opportunities
The further training is divided into different formats: In addition to compact 5-hour workshops, modular learning opportunities are also provided, consisting of three consecutive 2-hour units at two-week intervals. The participants not only receive theoretical basics, but also practical suggestions for developing their own educational units. This means they can competently convey the topics surrounding natural climate protection in their own facilities. The goal is to motivate at least 1,000 people to actively use such educational opportunities to increase awareness of climate protection and biodiversity bfn.de determines.
There will also be a new format, the Na Klima! Talk, established from autumn 2025, which is intended to enable exchange with experts on important questions about education for natural climate protection. This step creates a platform that not only imparts knowledge to educational professionals, but also offers a space for discussion and cooperation.
Importance of natural ecosystems
Natural climate protection refers to the protection and renaturation of intact ecosystems, such as forests, soils and waters, which play an essential role in binding carbon dioxide. ufu.de highlights that improving the status of these ecosystems is crucial for climate change performance. The current educational project therefore also focuses heavily on expanding the skills of specialists in order to better understand complex contexts of (non-)sustainable development.
The initiative is a joint effort by the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) and the Institute for Future Studies and Technology Assessment (IZT) within the framework of the BMUV. Close collaboration and support ensures that the educational content not only reflects the current state of knowledge, but also addresses the needs and expectations of the target groups.
In times of climate change, education is a key to achieving sustainable change. The online training “Na Klima!” shows how important it is to spread knowledge about natural climate protection and thereby create a new generation of environmentally conscious people and specialists.
