Climate check-up: Free event for companies in Dortmund on November 27th!

The challenges of climate change are currently a hot topic that companies in the Emscher-Lippe region cannot ignore. The “Climate Check-Up” event will take place in the Wilopark in Dortmund on November 27, 2025. All businesses in the region who would like to find out about measures to adapt to climate change are invited. The focus is on the resilience of commercial areas and buildings to extreme weather conditions that are favored by climate change. Loud Nordstadtblogger Rising temperatures, longer dry phases and more frequent heavy rain events play a decisive role.

One of the goals of this event is to inform companies about funding opportunities, technical and legal aspects as well as practical examples. Participants can expect free consultations that include a climate resilience check for their respective companies. This also includes the analysis of the current condition of the areas as well as information on licensing aspects and available funding. Registration for the event is possible until November 19, 2025.

Funding for sustainable solutions

An important part of the program is the presentation of best practice examples from the region. Among other things, measures for roof and facade greening as well as unsealing and rainwater infiltration are discussed here. These initiatives are part of the Klima.Werk future initiative for water-conscious urban and spatial development. Ultimately, the project aims to protect and strengthen health, infrastructure and resources in the region.

The Emschergenossenschaft, the Lippeverband and the Klima.Werk future initiative organize this series of events and want to actively shape a climate-friendly future. By 2030, a total of 250 million euros should be invested in climate adaptation, for example to decouple 25 percent of paved areas from the sewer network and increase the evaporation rate in urban areas by 10 percent.

Overall, the event offers an excellent opportunity for companies to address the challenges of climate change and develop solutions that benefit not only the environment but also their own business operations.
